Product & Platform Engineering
Architecture and evolution of systems for parcels, permitting, licensing, assets, and public information.
01 / Identity
I build geospatial platforms, cloud architecture, and AI-powered data solutions for complex public-sector work.

The long view
For more than three decades, I have worked where software meets the real world. My career spans research computing, geospatial products, cloud platforms, and technical leadership at principal level.
I help turn property, permitting, mapping, and land-records data into secure, high-performance applications for government agencies and the public. I care about architecture people can reason about and systems that remain useful as the world around them changes.
Beyond the title
The work crosses application architecture, GIS, cloud engineering, DevOps, identity, data platforms, and enterprise integration.
Architecture and evolution of systems for parcels, permitting, licensing, assets, and public information.
Azure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, identity, secrets, observability, and operational reliability.
OpenSearch, PostGIS, GeoServer, spatial services, map rendering, and large property datasets.
Legacy evolution, APIs, authentication, security, accessibility, and cross-platform integration.
Complex systems should still be understandable.
Good architecture creates room for the next decision.
Trust is built through details, discipline, and follow-through.
Current focus
The next chapter
I'm exploring how LLMs, search, and automation can make complex parcel and property data easier to use while respecting security, authorization, and governance. The goal is not novelty. It is useful change, applied thoughtfully and carried through to execution.
Secure Azure architecture, automation, identity, CI/CD, and operational reliability.
Parcel search, spatial data services, map delivery, and large-scale land information.
Modernization, API design, authentication, accessibility, and long-term evolution.
LLMs, OpenSearch, secure retrieval, governance, and AI-assisted experiences.
PostGIS, GeoServer, WMS/WFS, spatial search, and high-volume data delivery.

Portfolio
Representative work
Work at the intersection of geospatial products, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and practical AI adoption.
Built a natural-language property search prototype using retrieval over OpenSearch indexes, Azure-hosted LLM orchestration, and normalized parcel schemas, with emphasis on authorization-aware retrieval, source grounding, and repeatable integration patterns.
Leading phased modernization of Beacon across legacy and modern stacks, including Azure AD B2C authentication flows, API boundary refinement, environment strategy, and delivery pipeline updates that reduce risk while enabling incremental rollout.
Standardizing Azure delivery with infrastructure as code, GitHub Actions CI/CD, OIDC federation, Key Vault-backed secret flows, and policy-driven environment governance to improve deployment repeatability, security posture, and operational reliability.
Designing and troubleshooting cross-platform integrations spanning Microsoft 365, Azure services, Salesforce, and enterprise identity/security systems, with focus on API contracts, token-based trust boundaries, and resilient data exchange across internal and external systems.
A good conversation is a strong first commit.
